This piece was created at the end of the Saudi expedition (see News), to show positive elements of the country.
It is drawn on top of a photograph showing the sunrise in the desert, taken by Syaza Shakharulain, photographer on the expedition.
The piece begins with rug patterns from berber carpets, which were seen often in the desert camps and villages. The pattern depicts the tombs of Madain Saleh, a world heritage site in the desert.
It then moves onto fish from the visit to a fish market, and the following layer depicts Islamic tile work, seen in an architect-designed house. The Pepsi logo demonstrates that Saudi is also modern, and wherever you go, you cannot escape this fizzy drink! Finally, the last layer shows art materials following visits to various artists around Saudi, who are fulfilling their creative passion.
